Holy Week At Longview Nazarene

As Lent draws to a close, we begin to gear up for the season of Holy Week, wherein we recall the final week in the life of Jesus Christ.  Holy Week has, historically, been celebrated with numerous days of services, including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Here at Longview Nazarene, we believe that we cannot fully grasp the import of Resurrection Sunday without also recalling the horror of Good Friday.  These two days belong inexorably together.

Below you will find the list of services and events for Holy Week 2021.  This has been a different year, with plenty of cause to mourn and also great cause for celebration.

Good Friday Service

April 2, 6:30pm

Easter has little meaning without Good Friday.  If on Easter we celebrate the unbounded hope of life in and through the Resurrection of Jesus, on Good Friday we remember and recall the depth of our own sin and the sacrifice Jesus was willing to give for our sake.  This is a service that helps to prepare and focus us so that we might truly understand the enormity of what God has done for us in Christ.

We will be offering our Good Friday service via livestream this year on our YouTube and Facebook pages.  On both YouTube and Facebook search for "Longview Church of the Nazarene" to subscribe to our feed.

Good Friday Prayer Vigil

Each year as we finish our Good Friday service, we devote ourselves to a period of prayer as we keep vigil and anticipate the celebration of resurrection.  This time was originally conceived as a time to pray specifically for the young people in our church community who are facing unprecedented challenge to their faith and life.

We encourage you to sign up for a 1 hour time slot between 7:00pm on Good Friday and 7:00pm on Holy Saturday to engage in prayer for our church, our community and our world that we would be open to the light and good news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If you would like to sign up for a time slot contact Renelle Treat HERE.

Easter Sunrise Service: 7:30 AM

Our 7:30am Sunrise service will be similar to our 10:30am worship service, but will have a quieter, more intimate feel as we gather at the break of day to welcome anew the good news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!  This service will be offered both in-person and live streamed via YouTube and Facebook Like.  If you would like to sign up for a spot at this service, click HERE.

(Due to space guidelines, please only sign up for ONE of our services),

Worship Celebration: 10:30am

At 10:30AM we will gather to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!  This service will be similar musically and in the sermon as the 7:30AM, but have a wider instrumentation during the music. Due to space limitations, we ask that you attend only ONE of the Easter worship services.  To sign up for the 10:30AM Worship Celebration, click HERE.
